Mounted Combat Clinics
Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need prior martial arts training?

No! You do not need a martial arts background. Minimum equine requirements are that participants are able to walk, trot, and safely steer their horse around obstacles. Beginners on a leadline may be allowed in select situations.

Do I need special equipment?

No - an open space, your horses, and a cheerful attitude are all that is required.
Weapons and training tools will be provided. A horseback riding helmet and gloves should be worn.

Is this dangerous for the horses (or humans)?

The risks of mounted combat are no different than the inherent risks associated with other equine activities such as mounted games, working equitation and general riding. Horses are by nature unpredictable animals. Training weapons made of synthetic and wood materials provide additional safety to horse and human participants. A signed waiver is mandatory to participate.

I don't have a horse or know much about horses but I want to learn?

You are more than welcome to audit a mounted clinic, and volunteers are always needed for events involving arms and armor. You do not need a horse to participate in portions on foot. I  do not currently offer beginner horseback riding instruction but may do so in the future.

"Horses don't care about your words: they care about and respond to your actions. Riding will bring you into a world of action, of real living. It will show you how life is interconnected."
